After taking a break from my pinhole photography, I'm excited to say I'm started to feel inspired again. But before I can dive into new adventures, there's a bit of a mess to sort out – disorganised photos and neglected websites that need some attention.

In the midst of this cleanup, I've started organising my photos by location. These are places I've revisited for various reasons – maybe to improve my past shots or just because I love being there.

One of these places is Cuckmere Haven in East Sussex. It's where the Cuckmere River meets the stunning Seven Sisters cliffs. Join me as I rediscover these special spots and breathe new life into my pinhole photography.

Cuckmere Haven is a picturesque coastal area located in East Sussex, England. It is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and unique geographical features it is situated within the South Downs National Park in East Sussex, along the southern coast of England. It is approximately seven miles east of the town of Seaford and not far from the city of Brighton.
The main attraction of Cuckmere Haven is its breathtaking natural scenery. The area is characterised by rolling hills, meandering riverbanks, lush greenery, and dramatic chalk cliffs, notably the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs. The Cuckmere River flows through this landscape, creating a serene and picturesque setting.

The Seven Sisters are a series of chalk cliffs that stand proudly along the coastline at Cuckmere Haven. They are a prominent and instantly recognisable natural landmark. The cliffs offer spectacular views of the English Channel and are a popular spot for hikers, photographers, and nature enthusiasts.



On the path down you get the view of the famous coast guard cottages, dating back to the 19th century when they were originally built to house coastguards and their families. The cottages are renowned for their breathtaking and unobstructed views of the English Channel and the iconic Seven Sisters cliffs.

Cuckmere Haven promises a fresh experience with every visit. When the tides recede, they unveil a captivating rocky terrain adorned with enchanting rock pools. On days of turbulent weather, you have the opportunity to capture the raw power of waves crashing against the resilient rocks or surging around the historic coastal defences.

As you traverse the cliff's edge en route to Hop Gap, you'll find yourself immersed in a breathtaking panorama of the Seven Sisters gracefully extending along the coastline toward the horizon. Numerous benches are strategically placed for visitors to pause, sit, and fully soak in this awe-inspiring view.

Just around the bend, you'll encounter Hope Gap, a more secluded and intimate stretch of beach that treats visitors to exquisite vistas of the Seven Sisters cliffs. Access to this charming beach is facilitated by a series of concrete steps, not only making it convenient but also providing a picturesque backdrop for capturing memorable photographs.

On this section of beach, which normally is not accessible during high tide, you get a much rugged landscape, big rocks which have fallen from the cliffs over the years.

Cuckmere Haven is a tranquil and picturesque destination and one that I would recommend anyone visit, it offers a blend of natural beauty, outdoor recreation, and a sense of history.
It's a place where you can immerse yourself in the stunning coastal landscape and appreciate the timeless charm of the English countryside.
